This Must Be The Place

We first met Jo and Duncan in 2024 when we visited the venue, and we were absolutely blown away. We immediately felt emotional at how stunning it was (we had never been anywhere quite like it). We chatted with Jo about our wedding plans and life in general over a cup of Yorkshire tea, and it instantly felt like we were catching up with an old friend. She even gave us a lift back into town after we naively assumed we’d be able to get a taxi (future couples: definitely book one or hire a car!)

We booked our wedding for October 2025, and when we returned for our technical visit in February after an incredible food tasting with Caravan Made, Jo and Duncan welcomed not only us, but also our parents and my sister without hesitation. Duncan stepped straight into barista mode, making rounds of coffees for everyone, while Jo took the time to give us restaurant recommendations for Vic - she even let the staff know we were coming and told us exactly what special to order.

What we’re trying to say is that at no point did it feel like our wedding was a business transaction. It genuinely felt like our incredibly organised, knowledgeable friends were hosting our wedding for us.

Now for the really exciting part - our wedding day. Everyone says their wedding day is the best day of their lives, but ours truly was. We always say we’d love to relive it, but at the same time we wouldn’t change a thing because everything went so perfectly.

From start to finish, Jo and Duncan made us feel completely at ease, and the whole day ran seamlessly. The incredible vendors - especially Caravan Made (our caterers), Lara (our photographer) Oscar (our DJ) and The Gathering (our wedding coordinator) - helped make the day absolutely perfect.

It’s no exaggeration to say that all of our guests are still talking about how incredible the wedding was, and many are already planning trips back to Vic themselves. We can’t wait to return one day and celebrate our anniversary there!

In all honesty, we weren’t completely sure about having a destination wedding at first, but as soon as we visited This Must Be The Place and met Jo and Duncan, we felt instantly reassured. Nothing ever felt stressful or daunting, we just knew everything would be taken care of in their capable hands.

We also had a second-day BBQ event, which was such an incredible idea and the perfect way to bring everyone together for the debrief. We were genuinely sad to leave on the Sunday, we just wanted to stay and keep partying/chatting.

Ultimately, Jo and Duncan truly care about the people whose weddings they host, and they are simply wonderful people. They make you feel like your wedding is the only one that matters.

We can never thank you enough for making our day so special. We’ll be forever grateful.

From the moment we first visited, Jo and Duncan made us feel more like welcomed friends than guests. They are the kindest, warmest hosts, always checking in and always making sure everyone feels comfortable and cared for. You can immediately tell how much love and intention they have poured into this place.

This was the first and only venue we visited and honestly, I cannot imagine a more perfect place to celebrate our wedding. Even when the weather didn't comply on our wedding day, there was a well considered backup plan, and we don't feel like we missed out on anything. Go ahead and book it. You wont regret it.

This Must Be The Place made the dream of getting married abroad, a stress free-reality. From the very first moment we contacted Jo and Duncan to explore their venue, we knew it was the one. We truly felt that this must be the place.

Planning a Spanish wedding at home in Scotland felt like an impossible task but Jo and Duncan had an answer for every question we could have possibly dreamed up. Nothing was a bother, every suggestion embraced and every thought encouraged. This is a venue that really wants you to live out your dream day as if they are your own family.

Hidden in the Catalonian hills, just one hour from Barcelona airport, this converted farmhouse is in the wide open - yet is completely secluded and genuinely special. Every inch of this venue is beautiful, from the barn to the bedrooms, it is breathtaking. There was so much choice in customising our big day, we had so many options of where to hold our welcome drinks, our ceremony, our aperitivo, our dinner, our dessert, our party and more. Jo and Duncan will make your vision a reality, with so many spaces to play with.

We felt a lot of pressure to provide something special since we were trekking 80 of our family and friends from Scotland to Spain. Since coming home we have been inundated with people telling us it was the best wedding they had ever been to. That was made possible by Jo, Duncan and all of the amazing vendors who are delighted when they find out your wedding is at TMBTP. Every vendor we used had worked there before and each came with the seal of approval from Jo and Duncan, this put us at ease throughout, especially when things operate on a much more relaxed timescale compared to here in the UK. If Jo and Duncan trust them, you can too.

Our wedding was perfect, marrying the woman I love amongst the blossoming flowers, surrounded by butterflies and the buzzing of the bees, with the sun piercing through the trees and reflecting from the hanging disco ball in every direction. It is a memory that will last a lifetime.

And even when things look to be going wrong, Jo and Duncan are experts on hand to turn things around before you even have a moment to panic. An out of the blue 20 minute thunder storm, breaking up a glorious day of sunshine was converted into a cosy moment inside for speeches that left everyone in streams of smiling tears. This couple live every wedding as if it is their own (and they have had their own wedding there! It should even serve as your inspiration).

Every added extra you can come up with will fit in seamlessly here. We had live painters, a bagpiper, buses, taxis, big floral arrangements and a party nobody wanted to end. All coordinated to perfection by Jo and Duncan. The night before the wedding felt so intimate and special, our closest friends gathered round the courtyard as we polished off our speeches and then the morning after the wedding reminiscing on a night we never wanted to end. This place is really special.

We will never be able to truly put into words how grateful we are to have had such an emotional wedding full of love and joy in such a beautiful setting. Jo and Duncan made our dreams a reality and we couldn’t recommend them enough.

Just held our wedding at this incredible venue. It was completely perfect and I couldn't recommend it more. From start to finish, Jo and Duncan who own the venue couldn't have been more helpful. They have poured so much love and attention into the venue with so many beautiful thoughtful personal touches everywhere you look. They were available from day 1 to answer every question we had, and they had a list of trusted supplier of all which were in keeping with the style and quality of the venue. We actually booked the venue before visiting it and when we finally got to visit it we were even more blown away by the beauty of the place. The whole lead up to the wedding was smooth and seemless and jo and Duncan went out their way to help us think through every step of the day and even a plan B if the weather wasn't good. Over the wedding weekend, jo and Duncan made us feel so at home and I feel so relaxed on the day knowing everything was on hand. I'm really sad the weekend is over, it was for me the happiest day of my life and so much of that was due to the experience jo Duncan and their suppliers created for us. Thank you again! I hope one day we can return for another party!

I just had to do a review about the most amazing wedding venue where my partner and I got married June 2023 – the stunning This Must be the Place in Moia. Everything was just wow! The venue is truly beautiful, it's been renovated perfectly but has kept its authentic feel while having a nice touch of modern. The views were mind-blowing and we were lucky to have the most perfect sunset during our party. This will stay as one of our best memories.
But the best part must be the owners, Jo, Duncan, and their daughter Indy. They were like wedding superheroes! Right from the get-go, they made us feel like family. The communication was on point, and they were always there to lend a hand or share their expert advice. They hooked us up with the best local providers, we couldn't have asked for better! When the big day arrived, Jo and Duncan were there to help! I really felt them going above and beyond with their support. They were working behind the scenes, making sure everything was flawless. Plus, they were like our personal cheerleaders, keeping us cool and calm throughout the whole thing.
The catering by Caravan Made (their exclusive provider) was out of this world! Our guests couldn't stop talking about the food and drinks.
But what really touched our hearts was Jo's open arms and support for our LGBT wedding. It meant the world to us that she embraced our love and made us feel special on our big day. Thanks for spreading the love and being an ally!

This Must Be The Place was the only wedding venue we visited when planning our wedding. Once we saw it we knew it was the one and Jo & Duncan did not disappoint!

They were so helpful both in the lead up to the day and on the day itself. The day seemed to run seamlessly and we were able just to relax and enjoy ourselves with all our friends and family in this paradisiacal setting.

When we came across TMBTP we knew instantly that this was where we were going to get married. Not only is the venue, location and views completely out of this world, but Jo, Duncan and Indy are just incredible people! Planning a wedding abroad would have been a very different experience without them! They are easy going, very professional, kind, supportive and have a wealth of experience. They couldn’t have helped us enough, which made the planning experience far less stressful than we had anticipated! Jo and Duncan supported us with recommendations and with the organisation of our vendors, and were super helpful with the abundance of questions we fired their way! When my partner and I were looking for a wedding venue, we wanted a certain something we couldn’t quite put our finger on. As we trekked across Barcelona, hoping from venue to venue, we were buzzing at the thought of our big day. Just when we thought things couldn’t get any more exciting, we arrived at This Must Be The Place. Approach from a winding road off the beaten track, everything suddenly came into view and our jaws dropped. The word wedding ‘venue’ simply doesn’t do it justice. The beautiful reclaimed barn with its timeless renovations provide a brilliant mix of old and new.

Walking around the property we were taken aback by the incredible views, the attention to detail (beautiful mirror balls spotted in multiple locations) and the big spaces giving multiple options on layouts. We opted for an outside ceremony and dinner, moving inside the converted barn for dancing afterwards. It made for the perfect transition as the day progressed. Having family stay on site worked perfectly too. Each bedroom has kept its original features whilst bringing a premium look and feel.

Now this is all well and good but there is one thing that truly made it so special…Jo and Duncan. They own, run and live at the property and have poured their hearts and souls into making it what it is today. Their passion, creativity and genuine love for our big day made all the difference. As a same sex couple, we can sometimes be reserved in opening up, but Jo and Duncan made us completely at ease and even entertained our specialist guest (Drag Queen A’Whora) whilst the guests gathered for our big finale.

We knew straight away that we had to get married here. We left our first viewing saying to ourselves ‘this must be it, this must be the one…This Must Be The Place!’

Jo and Duncan (and Indy!) are magical people who gave us a wedding that so many people will never forget, and a start to our married life that we will remember and treasure forever. We are so glad we found this place and these people.

TMBTP is a truly unique and wonderful place but they have created much more than just a 'place' - it is most definitely a vibe.

Our day was planned to down to the minute (Jack is a global projects director so there was no chance it wouldn't be!), but it still surprised us and surpassed all expectations! We were looking for European beach weddings and focussed on venues in Barcelona. TMBTP came up and was obviously very different. It was better. We started with a video call with Jo in September last year and she showed us round the masia. We fell in love with the views, the atmosphere and the sheer style of the place. We lived in East London for years and this place oozes that same cool and possibility - the fact that you have this chic but blank canvas and different spaces that they absolutely encourage you to use and make your own for your special day is something quite rare in a wedding venue too. If you are looking for something truly unique and 'you', this must be your place!

The various suppliers that they have available to recommend and who are full of fantastic ideas and flexibility are also a dream when you are planning a destination wedding. And we cannot speak highly enough of Sílvia and Yvette at Caravan Made - they are brilliant at what they do; their food is fantastic, their attention to detail is great and their staff are wonderful, friendly and run a very smooth operation - all vital ingredients for your wedding day.

The fact that you are effectively welcomed into Duncan and Jo's home as part of your wedding is something quite special too; they are on hand to help make your planning and actual day as smooth as possible and we are sure that is made so much easier because they care and love what they do.

5 stars isn’t enough for this amazing venue!! Started with a video call with Jo during COVID and we never looked back since. From seeing it for the first time back in November we knew it would perfect. Duncan and Jo are brilliant and have done such an amazing job with this venue. Also super helpful with any questions leading up to the wedding and during the day itself. It all flowed so smoothly and all the different areas all have their own magical spark to make the venue truly one of a kind. Even when we thought it was going to rain on the day and a marquee had to get put up, it was still perfect, probably even better. Jo and Duncan always have a plan B which is just as good as a plan A. All the accommodation is lovely and got great little touches throughout and can accommodate a small group of friends/family. All our guests were blown away and have not stopped raving about it since, we wish we could do it all again!!!

This Must Be The Place was where our dreams came true. We couldn’t have asked for more for a venue: stunning setting, easily accessible from Barcelona, and importantly, the best couple we could have asked for were running it, Jo and Duncan. We had our wedding ceremony on the paddock, so when we got married on a clear day in June our guests looked out beyond us to the beautiful Pyrenees and the stunning landscape between Mas Casamitjana and the mountains on the horizon. Our caterers set up food stalls and we had a buffet-style meal, and then had our party downstairs in the dance floor area. Jo and Duncan went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt right at home and the event ran as smoothly as possible. The next day, we invited our guests back for a brunch which was the perfect ending to our wonderful weekend. We are so pleased that This Must Be The Place will always be special to us, and can’t wait to visit again in the future.

We just can’t thank Jo, Duncan and Indy enough for welcoming us into their beautiful home, This Must Be The Place to celebrate our wedding on 2nd July 2022. We found the venue online and booked after having one video call with Jo. We knew straight away the venue and the owners were right for us.

Seeing the place for the first time is a truly special moment. The hills roll for miles, the house and grounds are beautifully maintained with brilliant plants and flowers all year round. The house is superbly designed, a heady mix of rustic quirky while sympathetic to its surroundings! The house and the people just belong there! The air is clean, the only noise is nature and it smells divine. It really takes some imagination and creativity to make a place so special!

Jo and Duncan are great people, super helpful and good fun. They have laid back personalities but always seem to have their sleeves rolled up doing something! They made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. They were always on hand to help but also allowed us space to enjoy our stay with them. You can tell they absolutely love what they do. They get really involved with the build up and on the day they’re around like helpful friends!

The actual day of the wedding went on like a dream. We were just blown away watching and feeling it all unfold and finally coming together so seamlessly and perfectly. Our guests absolutely loved it and have been full of compliments on how special it was. The energy was incredible.

We are so happy we found This Must Be The Place. Our time there will always hold a special place in our hearts. We couldn’t recommend the venue and Jo and Duncan enough. It was just perfect!

The first time we (virtually) laid eyes on This Must Be The Place, we knew it was everything we could ever dream of and more. We originally hadn’t considered having a destination wedding but not a single venue even came close and we couldn’t stop thinking about those views, so I guess from that moment we both knew that it truly was THE place.

From our first FaceTime with Jo & Duncan we knew we were in good hands, despite being in a different country and not stepping foot in our wedding venue until literally the day before our big day, at no point did it feel like a risk. They were so helpful every step of the way and we’re so grateful for Jo, Duncan and Jane their wonderful coordinator for helping make our day as special and ‘us’ as it was.

We knew TMBTP was special but no words can describe how incredible it is in the flesh, it surpassed our expectations and our entire day was a complete dream come true. As we approached the venue for the very first time we were both genuinely lost for words. Stunning views, attention to detail and filled to the brim with personality, plus to make things even better, the loveliest team that we couldn’t have done this without.

We’ve had so many of our guests tell us it was the best wedding they’ve been to, and we think that compliment is all down to how amazing TMBTP is! We feel so privileged to have tied the knot in such a beautiful place and over the moon that we took the leap.

We booked TMBTP during COVID travel restrictions after a FaceTime round the property. May seem crazy to some - booking without seeing the venue in person- but Jo & Duncan have truly put together the most epic venue with so many thoughtful details that we thought it was crazy not to book. They were so approachable and warm from the start and we felt so supported throughout the planning process; they were always calm and generous with their emails/ our questions which removed any stress making the planning genuinely enjoyable (we were booking from London with a lot of international guests travelling to Moia). The venue and views are of course unparalleled, and there are so many ways to customise your day so every wedding there feels unique. Evidenced by Jo&Duncan referring to different layouts configured by the names of couples themselves. A truly warm gesture.

On the day itself, our guests had the best time and the words “WOW” “this is the nicest wedding venue I’ve ever been to” were shared throughout the festivities. We had a mix of rain, mist, cloud, full sunshine and a beautiful sunset - and every change in weather was equally beautiful. TMBTP is beyond special and we are so grateful to Jo&Duncan for their kindness, generosity, and impeccable taste that made our wedding so so special. As I’m sure everyone says: this really IS the place.

This truly IS the place! This Must be the Place is the perfect mixture of rustic, quirky, cool and glamorous. An absolute gem hidden in the hills of Catalonia. We booked the venue sight unseen as we felt such a wonderful vibe from Duncan & Jo. We were not to be let down when we arrived the day before the wedding. Pictures cannot possibly do the venue justice. It is perfection. Duncan & Jo are incredible and the local vendors are a dream to work with. It really was the best day of our lives and we could not feel more fortunate about where we decided to hold such a special and memorable occasion. Everything was seamless from start to finish and the recommended suppliers blew us away! Our guests wanted for nothing and the standard of accommodation and design is top class. We wouldn’t change anything for the world! The venue, the owners and the views make this place something extremely special. We cannot thank Duncan & Jo enough!

It was everything we hoped for - you have to see the place in person to appreciate how beautiful it is. We live on the east coast of the US and wanted to do something different for our wedding, and found Catalonia to be a perfect destination - great food, beautiful scenery, lovely people, and very affordable by US standards. The venue has multiple great locations to hold the ceremony and a beautiful indoor space for the bar and dancing. Overall we had a wonderful experience with this venue and the lovely owners, and would recommend it to anyone! It was an unforgettable weekend!

My wife and I looked at a number of venues around Barcelona and after seeing this one nothing came close. At the time it was still raw and hadn’t hosted a wedding yet, but you only had to see the venue and the view to realise how wonderful it would be. It could not have lived up to expectations anymore! There is a moment when you finally first glimpse the venue and the view after working your way up the windy road to get there and it is a real wow moment for all you and all the guests.

Jo and Duncan were wonderful hosts and very helpful in assisting us when we had any questions in the lead up to the big day. My groomsmen and I stayed at the venue the night before and they were exceptionally understanding when our questionable music taste kept them up a little later than expected. The day itself ran like clockwork and all our guests still keep telling us what a wonderful time they had. We could not have asked for anymore to help make our wedding day so special.

They say it's the best day of your life. A day you'll remember forever... and 'This Must Be The Place' provided us with the perfect setting to make these memories. The scenery and location is breath-talking and certainly has a wow factor from the moment it reveals itself as you drive over the hill towards it. Jo & Duncan have done a fantastic job in bringing in the new whilst retaining all the charm of this traditional Masia. We had found this balance of traditional and contemporary a real challenge whilst looking at other locations for our Wedding in and around the area.

'This Must Be The Place' really does some up this hidden gem... we knew from the moment we stepped foot inside and looked around the property that this was the setting we had both been looking for. Jo & Duncan also played a huge role on the day supporting us to make sure that our day went as smoothly as possible. Nothing was too much of a problem for them and you could see their previous experience pay dividends. With the many options of areas, and freedom to plan your day exactly the way you want to do it (nothing is impossible here!) we were able to be in charge to have a day that reflected us. Although we had to change some of our plans on the day due to weather, this in no way had an impact, option B was maybe in a lot of ways better for us. We had our ceremony inside the smaller of the barn rooms and this added gravity with its exposed walls and acoustics - it's like a movie set one of our guests said.

This Must Be The Place is a truly unique venue and one which will forever be a very special place for us. If we could do it all again we wouldn't change a thing. Thank you Jo & Duncan for giving us the best day of our lives!
