Natasha & Reece’s Wedding Weekend at Cigarral de las Mercedes
Some weddings are over in a matter of hours. Natasha and Reece’s celebration at Cigarral de las Mercedes felt like something much more generous: a few precious days spent together in the Spanish sunshine, with long lunches, poolside drinks, laughter, music and plenty of time to simply enjoy being with the people they love.
Cigarral de las Mercedes Real wedding
Overlooking the ancient city of Toledo, Cigarral de las Mercedes is a remarkable estate where historic architecture, beautifully maintained gardens and expansive views create a spectacular setting for a destination wedding. The estate is home to 33 boutique bedrooms and four private villas, each with its own jacuzzi, as well as a swimming pool and a collection of atmospheric outdoor spaces.
As their photographer, Karolina recalls:
“The moment I stepped foot in Cigarral de las Mercedes, I immediately had my breath taken away. There are some wedding venues where you arrive and immediately understand why the couple chose it, and this was one of those places.”
Welcome Celebrations Begin
The wedding weekend began with evening welcome drinks at the venue, setting the tone for everything that followed. Rather than rushing into the wedding itself, Natasha and Reece had time to settle into holiday mode with their guests.
Acoustic guitar drifted across the terrace as everyone chatted over dinner, with the warm Spanish evening stretching on around them. It was relaxed, informal and exactly what a destination wedding should be: an opportunity to bring everyone together and enjoy the setting before the main event.
Wedding Morning Fun!
The following morning was wonderfully slow. The boys headed off for a round of golf, bringing plenty of laughter and banter with them, while the bridal party took a rather more leisurely approach.
By the pool, Aperol Spritzes and gin and tonics appeared alongside swimsuits and sunglasses. Feet dipped into the water, drinks rested on the poolside and nobody seemed particularly concerned about what time it was.
It was, quite simply, a morning spent with the people they loved most!
Saying “I Do” Beneath the Old Tree
For the ceremony, Natasha and Reece chose one of the estate’s most spectacular settings: beneath a magnificent old tree overlooking Toledo.
A white aisle led through the gardens, lined with elegant white florals, while the ancient city provided an extraordinary backdrop behind them. Natasha looked beautiful in her fitted lace wedding dress as the couple exchanged their vows surrounded by family and friends.
It was an emotional ceremony, filled with those quiet moments that are often more powerful than the grand gestures.
As their photographer remembers:
“It’s Natasha’s dad wiping away a tear as he walked back to his seat. Reece trying to hold back his emotions before giving up completely.”
These are the moments that made the day theirs.
Champagne, Saxophones & Spanish Sunshine
After the ceremony, the atmosphere shifted into celebration mode. A saxophonist welcomed Natasha and Reece back to their guests as everyone gathered around the champagne tower. There were cheers, applause and plenty of smiling faces as the celebrations continued into the evening.
One of the joys of Cigarral de las Mercedes is the way the day can naturally move around the estate, with each space offering something different without ever losing the feeling of being together.
“One thing I loved about Cigarral de las Mercedes was how naturally the day moved through different parts of the venue. It never felt like guests were being moved from one place to another.”
As darkness settled over Toledo, guests gradually made their way inside for dancing, while others stayed outside talking late into the evening.
Some danced. Some lingered around the tables with another drink. Others disappeared into the photobooth. There was no single way to celebrate, and that was part of what made the evening feel so genuine.
The Moments You Remember
Looking back at Natasha and Reece’s wedding, it is easy to be captivated by the setting. The views across Toledo, the gardens, the old tree, the beautiful architecture and the warm Spanish light all make Cigarral de las Mercedes an extraordinary backdrop.
But the photographs tell another story.
“When I look back through Natasha and Reece’s gallery, it isn’t necessarily the biggest moments that stay with me.”
It is the tear from a father, the groom trying to keep his emotions in check, friends laughing over drinks, feet dangling in the pool on a lazy morning and a group of friends being told they looked slightly too chaotic together on the golf course.
“Those are the photographs that remind me why I’m so drawn to destination weddings.”
And perhaps that is exactly what made this wedding so special. Natasha and Reece didn’t simply bring their guests to Spain for a wedding day. They gave everyone the chance to slow down, spend time together and experience somewhere beautiful.
“It felt like I’d been invited to spend a few days with a family on holiday who just happened to get married in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited.” Karolina, by Karolina Photography
At Cigarral de las Mercedes, their wedding became part of a much bigger memory: a few days of sunshine, friendship, family, laughter and love, shared in one of Spain’s most beautiful settings.
