The city of Lagos played host to the wedding of Daniel and Alice Clifford at the Casa Monte Cristo collection, with top chefs from the UK in attendance for their wedding in July last year.

Top UK chefs attend star studded Algarve wedding

Daniel Clifford is an award-winning chef; he won the BBC’s Great British Menu in 2012 and the Chef’s Chef of the Year gong at the 2015 and 2016 AA awards.

His Cambridge restaurant, Midsummer House, has been titular to two Michelin stars for all but two of the past 20 years, and he was also involved with a pub in Essex, The Flitch of Bacon, which held a Michelin star, from 2018 to 2021.

The star-studded guest list included Mark Abbott, the Head Chef at Midsummer House, double Michelin star holders Claude Bosi (from Bibendum restaurant), Tom Kerridge (Hand and Flowers, as well as the 1-star restaurant The Coach), Sat Bains (Restaurant Sat Bains), as well as single Michelin star chefs Simon Hulstone (The Elephant), Robin Gill (The Dairy), and Jason Atherton (Pollen Street Social and City Social, two restaurants both with Michelin stars).

Specifically, the wedding was carried out with complete success, for “Daniel and Alice’s 60 guests enjoyed the 3-day celebrations which included a welcome party with canapes, wedding ceremony and reception party, pizza party, and games”.

The wedding took place at Casa Monte Cristo, a private collection of villas and chic apartments in the Western Algarve and around Lagos—a setting for exclusive destination events. “Appreciation to the Casa Monte Cristo Collection management team, who went above and beyond — mentioning Victoria Morgan-Cummins and Steven Morgan-Cummins, who is the world ambassador of the World Master Chefs Society and head chef of Casa Monte Cristo: ‘No small task to cook for such a collection of Michelin Star chefs!'”
